Zaqy has been a Member of Parliament for Hong Kah Group Representative Constituency since 2006. He is also the Vice-chairman for the Young PAP and in-charge of the YP Media sub-committee which takes charge of Young PAP's new media engagement.

He also serves as Chairman for the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for Information, Communication and the Arts, a member of the GPC for Finance, Trade and Industry and the Public Accounts Committee. He is also active on the Board of Directors for SPRING Singapore and MENDAKI.

Zaqy works in the info-communications sector as a Sales Director with Datacraft (Singapore). He holds a sales portfolio overseeing three sales units to drive the firm's business growth and industry leadership.

Zaqy is Married with three children, Zaqy also has a strong interest in youth development, concerns of the working class, and Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs) as well as Singapore's economic agenda.

He developed his career worked in the private sector with Arthur Andersen, IBM and Avanade, before moving on to Datacraft in 2008. He graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic). He also holds a Master of Science (Financial Engineering) from NTU and a post-graduate Certificate in Computational Finance (Carnegie Mellon University).
