Event Synopsis:

It is quite normal for us to base our self-worth on how others perceive us. This can be through our accomplishments and through how others judge us based on our looks. This leaves us feeling ashamed of our past, and we start defining our self-worth based on these prejudices. We eventually set unrealistic standards for ourselves to live by.
In truth, we should find direction in the wise saying: “Whosoever knows himself knows his Lord.”
The key is to know our self-worth in the eyes of Allah, through knowing our place as the Almighty's creation and servant. Only then, can we value ourselves correctly, and start enhancing our ties with the Creator. This will then enable us to live and strive for Islam.
Islam is not just a religion of rituals, and Ihsan is not just an abstract concept. In essence, Islam is the way you live your life in accordance to Allah's rights over you, and Ihsan is the striving for quality and excellence in the execution of actions.
What is meant by the idea of “knowing oneself ” to achieve a close relationship with our Creator? What are the various facets of ourselves that we should explore?
