Prayer Becomes YOU
Your dad wants you to be a doctor. Your granddad wants you to join the police force. Your mum wants you to think about settling down and getting married. And your friends in university think you are odd because you pray five times a day. What is a young Muslim to do?
In this talk, Brother Idris Tawfiq reminds youths that the most important thing is to be yourself. When everything and everyone around you is clamouring to tell you this and that, remember that you have no need for others' approval. He reminds us that Islam can help us to be strong. By trying to be good Muslims, we become good people: kinder to those around us, more tolerant of others and more understanding of what life is about. He also reminds us that being God-conscious, re-establishing that connection with God through prayers, and by relying on Allah alone, people would tend to like the person we become.
