Welcome to our Basic Quran Tafseer Classes

Course Aims

This course aims to introduce the students to the elucidation, interpretation and commentary of the Holy Qur'an for the clear understanding of Allah's Will.

Learning Outcomes

As this course is targeted towards reverts and those with basic knowledge of Islam, the primary objective of this course will be to mould strong Islamic beliefs though the students, upon the successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

1. Understand the gist & meanings of the Holy Qur'an
2. Bring the teachings of the Holy Qur'an into their daily personal lives
3. Reflect upon the Message of the Quran

"Completing this course or part thereof does not enable the students to teach Tafseer to others"

Course Content

1. Translation of the verses of Quran
2. Asbab-un-Nuzul (Occasions or circumstances of revelation)
3. Islamic beliefs taken from the Quran
4. Basic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) derived from verses encountered during the Tafseer

Note: As the Qur'an is a fountain of knowledge, a wide variety of Islamic sciences would be touched upon, explained in a concise manner for ease of understanding In relation to Tafseer

Learning and Teaching Approach

The course will be delivered entirely online.The course will be taught in an engaging lecture style. A variety of teaching materials would be used such as slides and notes depending on the lecture.

The class duration is 1 hour split into the following portion:

• 45 mins of lecture
• 15 mins of Questions & Answers

There are no prerequisites to attend this course.

Course Policies

1. The course will be conducted online via Zoom, and due to various constraints, male and female students would be in the same lecture. As such all students must switch off the video.
2. All students are advised to ask questions for clarifications in the class itself via Mic or the chat box. If queries arise after class ends, the students can contact the lecturer via Whatsapp or email.
3. Notes and slides would be provided though the students are advised to take additional notes of lectures so as to nurture the habit of consolidating the knowledge.
