Youth of Today: Islam & Servant Leadership

This session aims firstly to facilitate the realization of the importance of having a spiritual identity, as opposed to defining oneself with one's possessions, human relationships, or career, all of which are necessary in life, but ultimately impermanent. When one knows one's spiritual identity, one faces all challenges in life with strength of spirit and resolve, turning to Allah in good times and bad.

Youth who are already involved in various forms of community work should be encouraged, while also being guided by recognized traditional Islamic scholars on the responsibilities and challenges of youth leadership. To this end, the second aim of this session is to invite Muslim youth leaders to ponder the realities of leadership in Islam, Islamic guidelines for leadership, and the idea of service in leadership that is fleshed out in the concept of servant leadership.
