Raising Hearts For Nujumul Huda Orphanage

In conjunction with Eid al-Fitr – a Muslim tradition to mark the end of the Islamic holy month of fasting, Heartship pledged to raise $1,000 for the children in Nujumul Huda Orphanage at Batam, Indonesia.
The funds will be utilized for the provision of 10 new mattresses to replace the existing ones which were severely in poor condition. In addition, the funds will also include the provision of essential supplies such as rice, eggs, toothpastes, school supplies and other daily necessities.
Subsequently, the supplies will be distributed to the orphanage on 16 July 2016. We will also be organizing hands-on activities such as crafting and coloring as well as a group lunch for the children. Any remaining proceeds will be distributed to the orphanage directly.
In-kind donations such as fresh products, frozen items and cooking oil are also welcome.

Nujumul Huda Orphanage is self-managed and operated by its caretaker, Ibu Sinar. Currently, the orphanage hosts and manage the needs of 50 children ranging from 3 to 15 years old.

Author's Note
There was a single moment when I offered to unwrap the cookie that was distributed to one of the children. However, she declined and held the cookie close to her like a precious gift.
Personally, it was a significant lesson to remember the nature of gratitude for the simple things in life that may often be overlooked.
