Halaqah Series 2015: Changing Lenses
Fees: Free
Every community, including the Malay community, faces their own set of strengths and weaknesses, which we hope to explore in this session. Approximately 99.9% of Malays in Singapore are Muslim, and to tackle current social issues in the Malay-Muslim community, it is essential to turn to the best solution - God. We simply cannot improve ourselves unless we do what is commanded by God, as promised in the Quran: "You are now the best ummah brought forth for mankind. You enjoin what is right (ma'ruf) and forbid what is wrong (munkar) and believe in Allah."
This session aims to awaken our souls and bring about a change in perspective towards religion as the solution to pressing issues our community is facing, so as to bring up the next generation with renewed faith.
Objectives:
1.What is the current state of the Malay community (the positive and negative, strengths and weaknesses, transitions)?
2.What are the causes of social issues in the Malay community?
3.Islam as the solution to these problems.
4.Embedding the value of "amar ma'ruf nahi munkar (enjoining good and forbidding wrong)" for the self and others, to revive the concept of ummah.
