Islamic Gift Economy Conference 2013
Fees: Student - $30, Adult - $40
In a consumer-driven spending environment such as Singapore, we increasingly experience financial difficulties in maintaining household financial stability. The ever increasing inflation coupled by an unstable economy and an aging population further amplifies the concern Singaporeans face for a better future. The question is: Do we have the power to make things better for ourselves, our family and friends?
Housing debt, higher household prices, job stagnancy, increasing education fees, credit-financing- these are some of the few financial worries that every Singaporean; be it young and old; would consider before starting or maintaining a family. How then can each individual contribute to CHANGE?
Islamic Gift Economy Conference (IGEC) would address some of these worries for you. This Gift Economy initiative aims to change the socio-economic paradigms that affects our behaviour and attitude towards consumption and wealth. By correcting our mind's eye in viewing what is real and truth, we can bring benefit to not only ourselves, but our loved ones as well. What is wealth? To what extent do we consume? Is investing for monetary benefits a true source of Happiness? How can we create Justice to all people from all walks of life? Can the poor benefit from the rich? Can the rich benefit from the poor?
Have Compassion. Establish Justice. Practise Moderation.
