Al-Quran is usually the first experience a Muslim has with the Divine. Before one can even perform the daily obligatory prayers, one needs to be able to recite the opening chapter of Al-Quran well. This means that Quranic recitation is a basic skill that every Muslim must equip him/herself with. Do not be content with just being able to recognise and pronounce Arabic words – rather, strive to learn and apply the proper Tajwid rulings so that your recitation becomes refined and fluent.
