This would be the third time FAIWA is inviting Ustaz Dr Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman ( from Malaysia ) to Singapore to give a talk on matters related to Money and Islam especially concerning RIBA.

This Workshop aims:

- to make aware the importance of Riba & its Rulings, especially in the area of conventional insurance (as a guide for our services, under the FATWA by Dr Akram Laldin, with the absence of Takaful Insurance, Term Policies & ILP is allowed), & in Conventional non-syariah compliant Investments.

- to deliver The importance of “purifying” the existing investments & bringing forward that compliant investments are readily available if the participants wish to stay invested.

- to emphasise the urgency of action that needed to be taken by the participants with regards to conventional insurance, and as Singaporeans, to get further advise by Aman Amanah Advisory Group, where, there is a list of products and services available in line with the FATWA to meet the needs of Singaporean Muslims.

The Speaker: Ustaz Dr Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman

Dr Zaharuddin Abd Rahman obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Malaya, a Master of Syariah Degree from Yarmouk University, Jordan and Doctor of Philosophy from University of Wales, UK. He also received a Bachelor's Degree from Prof. Dr. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi. He is currently an assistant professor at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) specializing Fiqh and Usul Fiqh, Muamalat Islam.

Apart from that, he is the adviser and council member of the meeting to some of the leading financial institutions as well as a Member of the Shariah Studies Council, the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM). At the same time he is also a prolific writer whose books are published by Karangkraft, Blue Well, PTS Media Pro.

He also wrote in mass media and is currently still a columnist of Solution Magazine, Fardu Ain, Magazines i and others. He is also often invited to discuss current and related issues of Muamalat in TV9, TV AlHijrah, TV3 and others.
