Learn to read Al-Qur'an in 24 hours!

Recite! Iqra' is for Total Beginners who will learn from zero to hero. Students will learn all aspects of the Arabic letters, proper pronunciation, vocal projection, as well as Qur'anic Arabic writing practices.

In this course, students will be introduced to the 28 Arabic alphabets and taught how to read and pronounce them phonetically as letters and words, accurately.

At the end of the course, students will be able to recognise and read Arabic words, leading them towards the fulfilling and rewarding lifelong reading of the Holy Qur'an Insha'Allah.

Participants should maintain a deep passion and commitment to learning the reading of the Holy Qur'an. This short, but intensive course will be conducted twice a week, over 12 lessons. Students are expected to practice between sessions on their own time, to enhance their learning progress and gain mastery of the art of reading Al-Qur'an.

Course Requirement This course is open to all students, aged 15 and above. No knowledge, exposure or familiarity with the Arabic language or Qur'anic reading is required. At the end of the course, students can expect to read the Holy Qur'an at a basic level and moderate pace.

Course Overview - Introduction to Arabic Alphabets (Al-Huruf Al-Hijaiyyah)
- Arabic alphabets pronunciation
- Vowels (Fathah, Dhammah, Kasrah)
- Basic Rules of Recitation (Tajweed)

Who should attend the course?
- Individuals who are beginning an interest in learning the Arabic language.
- Individuals who intend to pursue a deeper study of the Arabic language - this course would facilitate their learning.
- Individuals/Muslims who wish to be able to read the Qur'an.

Ustadh `Abdul Shakur Hadi studied the religious sciences under various teachers in Singapore, Damascus (at Abu Nour Institute), and Malaysia. He founded Wilayah Method Programme where he now does all of his writings and classes. Wilayah is aimed at integrating religious and spiritual learning with character and moral development. Ustadh Abdul Shakur is a truly dedicated and experienced teacher whose absolute joy is to see students able to read Qur'an at the end of their journey. His teaching interests and specialisations are in Qur'anic reading, Tajwid, Islamic Spirituality, Theology and History, having learned from teachers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Syria and Lebanon.

Ustadh `Abdul-Shakur's has written numerous articles and authored three books being used as learning materials for WilayahLC's courses. He also helped edit and publish a book on two-volume book on Tajwid. Some of his publications include:

• Learn to Read Qur`an – Guidebook for Total Beginners. First Edition April 2008. • The Book of Taharah & Book of Salah – A Manual in the Shafi‘i Madhhab, Qalam Publishing, September 2008.
• The Book of Tauhid – A Primer for Learning the Pillars of Faith, April 2008.
