The world is facing a serious environmental crisis in an unprecedented proportion. A wide range of environmental problems has emerged; global warming, air pollution, destruction of ozone layer, vast quantities of toxic waste being dumped, deforestation and many more.

It is imperative that we, as the guardian of this earth, should play a major role in saving our Mother Earth. Even small efforts such as changing our lifestyle in order to reduce carbon foot print and encouraging others to do the same will make a huge impact to the environment.

What do the various faiths say about protecting the environment? The holy Qur'an glorifies nature and wildlife as an earthly heaven, a mirror of the lush forests of the Paradise. Notable religious figures, like Pope John Paul and Dalai Lama emphasized on the rights of the environment and called upon people of faith to play a crucial role in saving our planet.

In this forum, our panellist will dwell on the environmental crisis and what Islam has to offer in terms of protecting our environment. This forum also aims to highlight how every individual can play their part to preserve the environment for the benefit of our future generations.
