12 Week Tajweed Course for Women

Introduction
The science of tajweed is amongst the most important sciences of the Qur'an, for it necessitates from us all to be able to read the Words of Allah in the correct and appropriate manner they were intended. It focuses on the correct position of the organs of speech and the manner of articulation etc. Tajweed is not about merely learning rules and committing them to memory, but rather the correct application of those rules while reciting the Qur'an in order to gain the rewards and benefits associated with it.
This short 3 month course is timely as we approach the month of Ramadhan, the month of the Qur'an.
Objectives of the Course
Objective of this course is to enable individuals have a strong foundation in learning tajweed rules to be able to read the Qur'an appropriately. This will include gaining a good understanding and/or application of:
1. Introduction to tajweed, its history and purpose.
2. Principles of tajweed and common mistakes.
3. Makharij al-Huroof (points of articulation of letters).
4. Comprehensive rules for correct recitation.
5. Other helpful tips for self-improvement.
Prerequisites
1. Knowing the Arabic alphabet and vowels and be able to read at an elementary level.
2. Familiar with Iqra', Qirati or its equivalent.
3. Be above 16 years of age.
Material
Each student will get a copy of the renowned series, ‘Tajweed Rules of the Qur'an' (book 1 & 2). This will form the basis of classroom interactive learning.
Duration
Each weekly class is 1 hr 30 mins, delivered every Thursday 8pm to 9.30pm. The duration for the completion of the introductory course will be 12 weeks – concluding on 11 June 2015.
Assessment
Student assessment will be modular and the instructor will regularly monitor progress during classes. Those who adequately complete the course, will receive certificate of attendance.
Instructor
The respected female instructor for this course is highly qualified. After gaining her BA in Hadeeth from Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU), she completed her Islamic studies at MA level. Having a proficient understanding of Qur'an sciences will also allow her to supplement the course with additional Islamic context.

Price for the whole course has been kept exceptionally low at $155. We endeavour to ensure affordability for students, housewives and professionals alike. That works out around $8 per hour!
