Course Description
Shama'il (meaning invaluable features, amazing characteristics) is a short course discussing the noble character and virtues of the Prophet Muhammad S, conducted via a close analysis of and a special focus on Al-Imam Al-Tirmidhi's seminal work Shama'il At-Tirmidhi.

While it is quite hard if not impossible to accurately describe the virtues, noble character and excellent manners of our beloved Prophet Muhammad S, Imam Tirmidhi has quoted all the narrations and real stories that show those amazing noble features and qualities of our beloved Prophet S.

The course intends to bring the students closer to the Prophet Muhammad and increase their love for him. The students will feel, sense and experience the extent to which the noble character of the Prophet Muhammad S has shaped the lives of all those who knew him.

About Imam At-Tirmidhi
Abū ‘Īsá Muḥammad ibn ‛Īsá as-Sulamī aḍ-Ḍarīr al-Būghī at-Tirmidhī (824-892), often referred to as Imām at-Tirmidhī, was a Persian Islamic scholar and collector of hadith who wrote al-Jami` as-Sahih (known as Jami` at-Tirmidhi), one of the six canonical hadith compilations in Sunni Islam. He also wrote Shama'il Muhammadiyah (popularly known as Shama'il at-Tirmidhi), a compilation of hadiths concerning the person and character of the Prophet Muhammad S. At-Tirmidhi was also well versed in Arabic grammar. He was born during the reign of the Abbasid caliph al-Ma'mun. His year of birth has been reported as 209 AH (824/825). He is reported to have been born in Tirmidh in what is now southern Uzbekistan. At-Tirmidhi began the study of hadith at the age of 20. From the year 235 AH (849/850) he traveled widely in Khurasan, Iraq, and the Hijaz in order to collect hadith. He died on Monday 13 Rajab 279 AH (8 October 892) in Bugh, and was buried on the outskirts of Sherobod, 60 kilometers north of Termez in Uzbekistan.
