Halaqah linguistically means “circle” in Arabic. Often a halaqah, is a religious gathering- a study circle. In these gatherings, people generally sit in a circle and it is said the angels also sit in circles surrounding the gathering until they reach our Creator to tell Him that His servants are remembering Him in a gathering.
SIMCMS will be hosting Halaqah Series on a monthly basis focusing on various topics such as ethics, religion, economics, culture, science and many more, which fits in our club's mission & vision.
The topic of the Halaqah Series 2014 will be on The Malay-Muslim Identity.
Synopsis:
- Understanding history of Jawi
- Significance of jawi in shaping the Malay culture & language
- How the linguistic aspects of Jawi have in relation to Islam
Our guest speaker will be Dr Sa'eda Buang.
