The Al Kindi Ensemble, founded by Julien Jalal Eddine Weiss, is considered one of the finest contemporary groups performing music from the Sufi tradition. The music played by Al Kindi combines ancient modes with refined Arab, Persian, Turkish and Indian music. The result is an incomparably rich melange of haunting flavours, borne out of rigorous historical research.

Performing some 60 concerts around the world each year and maintaining a steady pace of critically-acclaimed recordings, Al Kindi Ensemble have explored a variety of forms that includes Arabic music composed during the Crusades, poetry-based music from the ninth-century Abbasid court in Baghdad and Sufi chanting.

Accompanied by three Whirling Dervishes of Aleppo, the ensemble will perform a repertoire of mesmerising zikr (devotional) music.
