The explosion of information age has brought with it, inherent social media tools to provide opportunities for every person to share and spread their views and opinions. Every individual and group has its own vested interests while attracting increased readership. The social media age marvels at its achievements and prides itself on the ability to spread information around the world at the speed of light and then witness the ramifications continue to perpetuate in cyberspace. We are intrigued by its sophisticated techniques of propagating information while simultaneously witnessing modern media platforms' strong grasp on our thoughts and actions.

The objective of this interactive presentation is to provide a Muslim Guide to navigating life through today's social media tools and platforms. It is of particular value and importance because of the increased phenomenon of its usage by Muslims in Singapore and elsewhere, as the community becomes highly tech savvy and continually remains online. It poses a tangible risk in compromising Shari' principles in many aspects of its functionality and unlimited potential that can be both, a force for productivity and goodness and well as wastage and vice. Only by identifying and accentuating some of the pitfalls of social media, can Muslims avoid them and navigate themselves and others away from falling prey to its harmful detriments.
